About the workshop
Location: ”Bevaringsvaerftet ”, Aeroeskoebing Havn, Aeroeskoebing, Aeroe DK
Dates: May 18th - 29th 2009
Hours: Mondays to Fridays 10am – 17pm Break: 13 pm– 14pm
If necessary, we may need to add additional work session to finish in the second week.
Price incl materials: 2500,-Danish Kroner

The vision of the workshop is that the giant puppets we build will perform during Aeroe International Maskfestival June 18th – June 21st www.maskefestival.dk
You sail to our island from 4 different places in Denmark to 3 different harbours on the island. And all these trips are stunningly beautiful! We would love to have the giants greet the ferries and travellers as dancing supernatural visions seen from the boats as they come close to Aeroe.
The process will include
- scale drawings
- building a 3D armature for head and hands
- sculpting head and hands from clay
- paper mache sculptures
- building a frame for the body using a backpack frame, aluminium and light timber
- creating a costume with fabric and foam
- painting head and hands
- creating any additional decorations and features as necessary
- and once all is completed, learn some basic giant puppet movement techniques

Thingumajig Theatre is a puppet and mask theatre company based in West Yorkshire, England who specialises in creating giant puppets for parades and festivals. The artistic directors are Andrew Kim and Kathy Bradley.

For this price you`ll get 2 weeks learning from experienced master makers and performers.
Additional to the workshop fee, you will of course have expences for lodging and food. We will gladly help you find the cheapest possible solution, if that is an isuue for you.
CONDITIONS: You must pay ½ of the fee in advance at latest 7 days after your sign up. Your deposit minus administrationfee – 250 DKR will get back to you, if cancel before 30 days before the workshop.
At later cancellation your deposit will only be returned to you, minus administrationfee, if your space is taken over by another participant. If not your deposit will be lost.
NOTE: A miraculous financial surplus will be given to cover expences in Aeroe International Maskfestival.
